About Us
RUBY HUNG, first launched in 2023, London-based Hong Kong designer Ruby Hung’s eponymous label revels in the unknown. A mentality rather than a wardrobe, the label lives by a defining mantra:
“It’s not a wardrobe, It’s a mentality”
Seeking comfort in a flurry of juxtapositions – provocation and security, strength and vulnerability, sensitivity and defiance – her instantly recognisable aesthetic oeuvre takes distinctly human forms and reimagines them: as armour, as a route to self-actualisation, as a warm embrace. Known for experimental approaches to material fabrication and silhouetting, the label daringly collides streetwear codes with artisanal techniques.
At Ruby Hung, savoir-faire is an integration of material intelligence and artistic intuition. We place artisans at the centre of the by naming garments after their makers to recognise them as skilled professionals. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, created entirely by hand in our London studio. An element of our savoir-faire is the hand knitted hair technique, a process that cannot be mass produced and requires technical expertise. Beyond craft, savoir-faire preserves the brand’s vision and values while directing innovation so designs remain purposeful, coherent, and aligned with the label's identity. A feminine spirit manifests throughout, with a call to awaken one’s inner power acting as a unifying force for each collection.
Garnering local and international coverage, Ruby Hung’s FW/SS24 collection has been showcased in London Fashion Week. Her designs have gained widespread recognition, most notably with Kylie Cosmetics Campaign, Tyla’s debut album cover “Water”, FKA Twigs’s Eusexua Tour, Horsegiirl for Glamcult Magazine cover and Arca's Primavera Sound performance. The label has been featured across leading fashion publications including Dazed, Schön!,Notion and Infringe magazine as well as an exclusive interview with Nasty Magazine for the collection "No Shave". These editorial features reflect the distinctive visual and emotional world her garments inhabit, one that celebrates experimental beauty, queer sensibilities, and the power of narrative through fabric.
In parallel, Ruby Hung’s narrative-driven practice extends into moving image through collaborating with film director Polina Kulbachevskaia on her award winning fashion film “Girls Gone Guilty”. The film screened at the London Fashion Film Festival 2025, won Best Fashion Film at a UK Film Festival, Best Fashion Performance at the UAL Fashion Film Festival 2025, and received nominations for Best Fashion Styling at the Berlin and Cyprus Fashion Film Festivals.“Girls Gone Guilty” adopts a satirical, reality crime-show format in which five young women are accused of “crimes” that reflect everyday moments of modern femininity. The project explores the unspoken pressures and contradictions experienced during the transition to womanhood.
Guided by these principles, Ruby Hung continuously explores creativity with a commitment to authenticity and radicality, embracing the philosophy that fashion serves as a canvas for artistry rather than a cult of conformity.
